Interdisciplinary Collective for Research on Architectural Cognition
Understanding Architectural Cognition
CIRCA is a critical observatory dedicated to architectural cognition —
the ways in which space is perceived, imagined, and conceptualized.
At the crossroads of philosophy, cognitive science, and architectural theory, CIRCA investigates the relationships between spatial experience, representation, and design.
Its work is organized around three complementary dimensions :
– Critical research on neuroarchitecture and neuroaesthetics.
– International observatory mapping actors, institutions, and resources in the field.
– Teaching and dissemination through Moodle-based courses and resources.
CIRCA connects and supports research initiatives such as ArCANE, a program devoted to aesthetic and spatial cognition in architecture exhibitions and immersive environments.
